Hethersett Old Hall School serves delicious home-cooked hot lunches every day, with a vegetarian option and pudding. All pupils eat in our dining hall and our youngest pupils in our Lower Prep department eat with their teachers in the main dining hall.

Daily lunches are compulsory and are included in our school fees.

Typical lunches include dishes such as: spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread, beef stew and vegetables, chicken tikka masala and rice, lasagne and salad, pasta dishes and fish and chips (a Friday favourite!).

As an alternative to the two course hot lunch, our Upper Prep, Senior and Sixth Form pupils can select their own options from our self-service salad bar (Upper Prep pupils are supervised to ensure they choose enough to keep them going all afternoon!). There is always a wide selection of protein options such as ham, egg, cheese and tuna, plus quiches, savoury tarts and wraps. Jacket potatoes and bread are also available and in the colder winter months there is the option of homemade soup.

Pudding is also served every day. Perennial favourites include fruit crumble and custard, bread and butter pudding, Eton mess and fruit salad. Alternatively pupils can enjoy a selection of fresh fruit and low fat yoghurts every day.

We are very experienced with dealing with pupils’ individual dietary needs, including students with coeliac disease and those who require a dairy-free diet, and are happy to devise specific menu options to meet particular requirements.
