On Wednesday, Year 1 went on their class trip to Willow Farm, Mr and Mrs Tallowin’s farm. This is our third year of visiting the farm. The children learned about many different aspects of farming: arable (sugar beet, wheat, barley and potatoes), cattle for beef and raising 80 000 chicks.
Highlights of the visit included pond dipping, moth and bee watching, climbing to the very top of the wind pump and handling day-old chicks. We also enjoyed a tractor trailer ride to the fields by Hickling reserve and did a spot of bird watching too!
Mr Tallowin is an award winner for the environmentally friendly approach to farming adopted at Willow Farm and we would like to thank the Tallowin family for having us for the day. We had a great time and learned a lot – thank you!
