Welcome and overview

Welcome to Hethersett Old Hall Preparatory School, the part of the school that is home to boys and girls aged 3-11 and lays the valuable foundations for lifelong learning.

From our happy nursery children, taking their first confident educational step, to the Year 6 pupils who are mature, well-informed and ready to move on or move up to the Senior School – we offer a fantastic environment in which pupils grow and develop their talents.

Small class sizes enable us to really get to know each child’s different learning styles well.  This means that we always get the best from our pupils academically – stretching the more able or giving support in a way that best suits each individual pupil.

No one falls through the net at Hethersett Old Hall School; indeed all the confident, articulate children who are awarded certificates in assembly each week are a testimony to our nurturing community and what a tailored learning experience can achieve.

We have excellent facilities and our Preparatory School is situated in purpose built accommodation, with dedicated learning and play areas, the Preparatory School is located in what used to be the walled garden of the historic Old Hall. Our boys and girls are also able to use the following senior school facilities from age three – our full-size sports hall, sports fields and indoor swimming pool.

As your child progresses through the Preparatory School, he or she will then be introduced to additional senior school facilities on-site. These include our tennis courts, science labs, design and technology workshop, music rooms, language rooms and food technology room. When girls continue on through into the Senior School they already be familiar with the environment and staff, minimising the trauma of change and providing a seamless transition into the next stage of their education.

Pupils also have many opportunities beyond the classroom. There are frequent school trips to enhance the curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities that pupils can enjoy.
