The Parents’ Association is a friendly and hard-working group of parents and staff. The aim of the association is to advance the education of the pupils by providing or contributing to facilities for education at the school. The PA provides the perfect opportunity to get to know other parents with children of different ages. Although it can be hard work at times, it is also tremendous fun, not least when the tangible results of the various events are seen in the form of extra facilities for the pupils.
Members give their time voluntarily and raise several thousand pounds each year. In recent years this has bought library resources, digital cameras, ipads, table tennis tables, sewing machines and new flatscreen televisions in the boarding lounges. We enjoy working together on fundraising projects, which take various forms:
- Social events such as quiz nights, bushcraft days, wine tasting evenings, picnic concerts, the summer fete and Christmas craft workshops for children.
The school and the Parents’ Association also hold fun community events during the school year to give families a chance to get to know us and see the Hethersett community in action. Forthcoming events are always announced on our blog.
