Year 10 pupils have been studying some love poetry as part of their GCSE literature course. After reading “When We Two Parted” by Byron we thought of some responses we might like to make from the woman’s point of view. Ellen Lee (10R) wrote a poem and Sheky, Libby and Safia wrote celebrity gossip columns covering the split.

Ellen’s free verse poem:

Under the roaring weather

My heart was a bird

Just left your shoulder

With a song you’ve never heard

You may feel sad

But may I ask

I, you once had

Forgetting is your last task

Time may cure you

And the sorrow

Like the morning dew

Disappears at one swallow

You may hate me

But the memory in your eye

Carved deeper than the sea

Will never die.
