On Monday, our AS biology class took a more hands-on approach to studying the lungs.

Jess Warner carefully dissected two sets of lungs and a heart. She looked at the different vessels involved, including the windpipe, oesophagus and arteries, and compared the different tissue types; lungs, heart, liver and even tongue!

Jess was surprised by different textures and weight of the organs and was able to apply what she had learnt in previous lesson to the task. She also showed the lungs to some interested Year 7s who were able to connect it to their own science work.

Well done Jess!

P.S. The lungs and hearts used were obtained from a local butcher and are a side product from the meat industry.
