Our tennis coach, Katie Brooks, was one of three finalists in the ‘Norfolk Coach of the Year’ category at the BBC Radio Norfolk and Active Norfolk Sports Awards last Wednesday.
Katie was nominated by HOHS pupils for her hard work and the enthusiam she puts into lessons.
She had a lovely evening but narrowly lost out to a swimming coach who coached Norfolk’s paralympic gold medallist Jessica-Jane Applegate.
Katie said, “I was the only tennis coach in Norfolk to make the final three of the ‘Coach of the Year’ award. The other finalists were Alex Pinninger, head swimming coach at the UEA and Philip Pearson, head golf professional at Eaton Golf Club. There were over 450 nominations and it was the highest standard of nominations they had ever had. I felt very honoured to be there, let alone come second to an Olympic coach! I was absolutely delighted to be recognised in these awards and be a finalist!”
Emily Edwards (9C) also added, “anyone who has tennis coaching will know how dedicated Katie is to teaching the sport in a fun way and I would throughly recommend lessons to all.”
Well done Katie, from all of us at Hethersett Old Hall School.
