Mr Lutkins hopes to have an astronomy club running in the next couple of weeks. The aim of the club is for students to be able to experience and gain an understanding of the universe around them.
Mr Lutkins hopes to show pupils some of the main features pupils can see in the night sky, why and how we use telescopes to help us view celestial objects and how to prepare for cold nights looking at and photographing these ‘wonders of the universe’.
There is no particular age restriction for the club, although it will be best aimed at Years 6+. For those in Year 9, Mr Lutkins hope to be able to offer GCSE astronomy as an extra-curricular activity which could gain pupils an interesting addition to their qualifications.
