Continuing our amazing string of sunny school events, we held our first whole school open morning of the new academic year on Saturday.

The school looked at its tidied and polished best, with interesting activities in each department to show our visitors what a truly creative, busy place we really are.

Mr Lutkins, head of science, had the new school telescope outside the labs to indulge pupils and visitors in a bit of moon gazing; inside, Miss Mann kept up the space theme launching paper mini-mice from a milk bottle! The fabulous art, textile and photography work attracted the usual compliments, especially as we now have an extended spot-lit display area next to the photography room. Sport was well represented in the tennis courts, in the pool and in the sports hall, with the school play taking shape with a Barn rehearsal session.

Delicious smells led people to a bake-off session in the home economics room whereAlice’s tomato scones proved a delectable success. In fact the whole school from the nursery to the sixth form was buzzing, and our visitors were unanimous in praising the guiding skills of our pupils. Thanks to one and all for the effort that went into making it such a successful day.
